Le pressoir, Halluin Stitch
After a high-warp French tapestry, second half of the 15th century. Museum of Cluny. In the Middle-Ages, tapestries were almost
exclusively intended for the lords, yet they sometimes pictured scenes from everyday life. The artist has set the tapestry against a flowerdotted background and exalts the work on the vine. While the workers are busy around the vines, the elegant people enjoy tasting the juice of the first grapes.
